Rev. Sharon Wylie – Minister’s Message for November 2019

A story about how Chalice has changed in the past few years…

Back in July 2014, we worked on a Habitat for Humanity project here in Escondido. In order to participate, we had to pay $1500, and at that time, the money came from the Social Justice Team’s budget.

People loved working on the home, and many […]

President’s Message – October 2019

October has arrived in Escondido with the promise of some cooler days. I’m hopeful.

We’ve been busy putting the finishing touches on construction and things are really starting to look great. By the time you read this, we will have finished our annual Oktoberfest celebration, for the first time reaching out beyond our Chalice community to […]

President’s Message – November 2019

November’s here. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Harvest Festivals and the beginning of what has become known as the Holiday Season. Take a deep breath and enjoy the three-month long ride on what feels a bit like those bumper cars at amusement parks. You get knocked around a lot, but not seriously hurt, and then want to do […]

Rev. Sharon Wylie – Minister’s Message for October 2019

President’s Message – August 2019

I hope you are enjoying your summer – I sure am! The weather has been beautiful allowing the finishing work on our Chalice home to progress at speed. Hopefully we will be attending services by the time you read this.

Last month I started laying out the Board of Trustees’ new goals for this coming year. […]

Rev. Sharon Wylie – Minister’s Message for August 2019

As I write this, I’m just a few days back from the silent retreat I lead each summer. Unlike previous years when I’ve been on retreat, this time I took a full break from reading news and engaging with social media. Disconnecting like that enhanced the benefits of being on retreat, which is always—no matter […]
