June is an exciting time at Chalice, with folks thinking about their summer trips, children excited to be out-of-school, and a congregational year winding down. My time as Congregation President draws to a close at the end of the month. Thanks to everyone on the Board of Trustees for their fine work this year! Your new Congregation President will be Kathy Zapata-Bergamini who officially takes over July 1. As I enter the role of Past President, the Board will continue to set policy for Chalice while envisioning its future.
July marks the start of Reverend Sharon Wylie’s sabbatical, where she can rest, reflect, and recharge as our minister. Her sabbatical finishes at the end of October and during this time, Chalice will be in capable hands. Kathy Zapata-Bergamini will be our interim Chief-of-Staff, Reverend Elizabeth Bukey will both preach in Rev. Wylie’s absence and assist with pastoral care duties (in conjunction with the Pastoral Care Team), and our Sabbatical Task Force will see that everything runs smoothly. This task force will serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Trustees’ president (Kathy Zapata-Bergamini) and to the Coordinating Team, led by Callie Leef.
Cabaret 2016 is set for October 6, 7, 8, and 9th this fall and please save a date to see one of the performances! The theme this year is “Revolution” and the Broadway-styled numbers will be based on revolutionary ideas and the people who made them. Our Director of Music Tim McKnight and the producer/directors of Cabaret will once again bring us exceptional songs with an emotional punch. More information will follow during the next few months from the Cabaret Team.
Lastly, I would like to thank Paula Gonzales for editing this lovely and informative newsletter each month. Thanks, Paula, well done!
