Sunday service is called a worship service. What are we worshipping?
“Worship” Old English weorthscipe ‘worthiness, acknowledgment of worth’.
Sunday morning is when we gather to consider that which is worthy of our consideration: The beauty of the world around us; The challenges of living our values; The struggle to be our best selves; How to challenge injustice in the world; The joys and sorrows of being alive.
The religious community gathers to offer and receive mutual support and caring while we strive to better ourselves and the world we live in.
Will I be expected to introduce myself during worship?
No, we do not ask visitors to stand and introduce themselves.
Is there a time during the service when we “pass the peace” or otherwise greet each other?
No, we do not greet each other during the worship service. Congregants greet each other before and after the service on the patio.
Is the chapel air conditioned?
Yes. It is also heated when necessary.
Can I bring food and beverage into the chapel?
Food and beverage is not prohibited in the chapel, but we expect attendees to be mindful of spills and crumbs and to clean up after themselves if necessary.
How am I expected to participate during the service?
All aspects of the worship service are optional, including singing, standing, and any other kinds of participation.
Do you offer communion?
We do not routinely offer communion as part of our worship.
