President’s Message for September, 2022

Let me start by congratulating Rev. Dr. Gregory C. Carrow-Boyd, our sabbatical minister, on the occasion of his ordination by the Harrisburg Unitarian Universalist Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on August 20, 2022. How fortunate we are to have Rev. Greg as our sabbatical minister at such an important time in his career. I can feel his energy and enthusiasm, and look forward to his sermons and guidance.

For Board development this year, we have chosen to read and discuss the book “Mistakes and Miracles, Congregations on the Road to Multiculturalism” by Nancy Palmer Jones and Karin Lin. The book is also a “common read” selection by the Unitarian Universalist Association this year and is available on Amazon and the UUA bookstore. I encourage anyone who may be interested to pick up a copy so we may have a broad congregational discussion on this important topic.

In-person attendance at Sunday services is slowly increasing and our Chalice life is gradually coming back to campus. Choir and Hand Chimes are now back on Thursday evenings!

I hope you all had wonderful (albeit hot) summer and I look forward to seeing you occasionally on campus this fall.

Blessings,

Tom Carlstrom, Board President
